Pool Enclosures, Inc. (PEI) manufactures and assists in the installation of Porte Cocheres. (A roofed structure covering a driveway at the entrance of a building to provide shelter while entering or leaving a vehicle. [French porte cochère : porte, door + cochère, for coaches.] )
- The larger Porte Cocheres typically require a Steel Sub-Frame (see drawing below), manufactured and installed by others, usually by a local steel fabrication company. PEI can assist you in the design and engineering of this main frame.....request a sample drawing showing sub-frame and glazing system. The lighter top portion consists of a screwed down aluminum base and pressure cap glazing system, that will sandwich the multi-wall polycarbonate. This pre-drilled, pre-gasketed skinning system is supplied by PEI. We will assist in the installation....click here for photos.
- The smaller Porte Cocheres and canopies can have aluminum framing thru-out, not requiring a steel sub-frame.
- Steel sub-frames by others
Our canopies are ideal for any architectural daylight such as drive thru entrances and walkways for hotels, commercial offices and homes. The polycarbonate has many advantages for roof glazing such as natural diffused lighting and durability. Below are some examples of arched, flat, lean-to, gabled, and pyramid roof styles:
