ILLINOIS PORTE COCHERES

Below are photos of a custom 24'-7" x 55'-2" Porte Cochere for the Double Tree by Hilton in Springfield, Ill.  The old canvas awning was removed and the existing steel subframe was refurbished with an Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) as a non load-bearing, exterior wall cladding system that consists of an insulation board attached either adhesively or mechanically, or both, to the substrate; an integrally reinforced base coat; and lastly a textured protective finish coat. The new arched roof canopy was designed and engineered per the local ground snow and wind loads, which included bent structural aluminum rafters, 1" thick opal multi-wall roof polycarbonate, and base plates for mounting.  The end bay was custom shaped and flashed to the curved bump-out of the high rise hotel.  The dark bronze color (baked-on enamel) was selected to match the existing door and window color of the hotel.

Below is a 12' wide x 10' deep arched walk-thru entrance with structural aluminum framing consisting of (2) vertical legs mitered to horizontal beams attaching to the building.  The existing canvas awning was removed and the new opal (opaque) polycarbonate glazing brought elegant natural lighting to a side entrance of the hotel.
