Illinois Porte Cochere
Below are photos of a custom 24'-7" x 55'-2" Porte Cochere in Springfield, Ill. The old canvas awning was removed and the existing steel subframe was referbished with an Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) as a nonload bearing, exterior wall cladding system that consists of an insulation board attached either adhesively or mechanically, or both, to the substrate; an integrally reinforced base coat; and lastly a textured protective finish coat. The new arched roof canopy was designed and engineered per the local ground snow and wind loads, which included bent structural aluminum rafters, 1" opal multiwall polycarbonate glazing, and base plates for mounting. The end bay was custom shaped and flashed to the curved bump-out of the high rise hotel. The dark bronze color (baked-on enamel) was selected to match the existing door and window color of the hotel.
